Frequently asked questions.
What should I expect when I arrive for the first time?
We’ll ask you to fill in our medical questionnaire and waiver. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the sessions to make sure you’re ready to start the class on time. Please check our club rules.
What do I bring to my first session?
For your first class you should bring a tight-fitting t-shirt or rash guard, and some leggings/shorts - if its a Gi class we’ll provide one free of charge for your trial class! We also recommend you bring a water bottle and sliders/flip flops to wear off the mat.
I’m a complete beginner, what will my first class be like?
We will start with a short warm-up, followed by some technique and drills. Towards the end of the class, we will do some live training; we’ll show you what this means! You can opt to watch this part of the session, but most people find this the funnest part!

Can I change (or add) a Kids + Teens training day(s)?
Yes! You can email us or speak to a member of staff to check if other training days have space. To keep teaching quality high and ensure safety, we limit the number of students in our kids’ classes - so any changes depend on availability in the new class.
MAAT bookings app - FAQs
1. Why do we use an app booking system?
We have an app-based booking system in place to make class management easier and meet insurance requirements. The app is simple to use!
2. How do I sign up to the app?
Download the app here: https://maat-app.link/lmccfIM0JTb
🧒 For Kids + Teens memberships:
If the member is under 16, they can use your account on their phone - they can sign into the app using your login details.
When signing up your child, use their name and DOB so we can identify them in the system.
If you are an adult member, you can create a profile for your child within your account - no need to create separate accounts.
3. Do I have to use the app to book?
All members must book via the app before attending a session. Walk-ins without a booking will only be allowed if space permits and must book in via the app on arrival. Attendance is one of our requirements for belt promotion. We need an accurate record of attendance so you and/or your child can be promoted appropriately.
4. What happens if a class is full?
You can join the waitlist in the app.
If someone cancels, you’ll be notified and can take their place.
5. What if I need to cancel a booking?
If you can’t make a class:
Please cancel your booking in the app as soon as possible. This will allow your place to be filled by someone who is on the wait list.
We understand young children can be unpredictable and so we allow cancellations up until the class begins. However, we don’t want anyone to lose out on the chance to train if there is a spot, so we appreciate you cancelling with as much notice as possible.
The app will send you reminders for booked sessions to help avoid missed classes. (See ‘Should I enable reminders’ FAQ No. 9)
6. What if I try to cancel via the app and the app malfunctions/I do not have access
Our new MAAT app is specifically designed to make bookings and cancellations as easy as possible. In the unlikely event there is a problem, please get in touch via email, phone or in person to let us know you have to cancel.
